Thunder Rocks (Witches Walk)

We started to drive up the road and it became a little icy and Liz couldn't get the car to go any further after we were over a half mile up the mountain. So Mark and I had to get out on the dark road and guide her backwards for a little ways so she could park and we could hike on in.

On the map it sure does not look far but I tell you we must had hiked about almost 2 miles to get here as we walked down a steep, twisted road in the woods. Liz told me she seen a moving shadow as we were walking. I heard something a few times but strangely enough there was not a single animal out. Just the moonlight and us. Walking the icy road made things more challenging but eventually the road ended and branched off to another road. This one was wider, flatter and was surrounded by some very tall large trees. Liz hit me in the head with a ball of ice never get in a snowball fight with her when your not looking she has poor aim lol and just think she almost knocked me out I am sure this could have really made the investigation of this place more interesting. This was the first time she almost killed me.

We finally arrived at Thunder Rocks it is not easy to miss rocks bigger then your house and so we hiked off the road and wandered between the big monoliths. The area felt strange there was many hiding areas here whether it would be on top of rocks, in some holes within the rocks or behind them. Either way you could understand why people fear this place as the beast has been spotted here amongst other things. Also it started to snow for the remainder of the night so we went to a clear moonlit sky to a snowy cold mountain.

The rocks were very snow covered I climbed a small one and had Mark take a few photos of me. Unfortunately the snow did not allow me to find the Olmstead stone or a stone symbol carved on top of one of the rocks. But that was okay we got a few ghost photos during our visit here. I did end up doing a Sasquatch call to wake up the entire area. Liz told me Rick you got ghost, you got an adventure isn't that enough for you she says now you want to invite Bigfoot with us. ha ha I was like why not because you never can have to much strange happenings at the same time.

After a few ghostly photos we decided to head back on our long hike to the car. About a few hundred feet down the road. Liz mentioned a very foul odor. I smelled it to after I stopped to try and figure out what it was. But it was very close by and I heard some movement in the woods. Liz described it like a very dirty ape at the zoo sort of a very rotten smell. We were a LONG ways back to the car was the beast nearby? I am pretty sure. The foul smell was not apparent on our way up there just heading back. Perhaps there are some creatures we cannot see with the eyes.

Anyhow we arrived at the car and Mark and Liz got in and I guided her about a quarter of a mile down the road. I heard something crashing down in the woods as I was walking down the dark road. Despite she almost ran over my toes and flew down the hill to the main road smashing into my hand we lived and survived the wraith of Thunder Rocks. Then we headed out to the Anderson Pit. Yes Liz you almost killed me a few times lol.

Third was Thunder Rocks, AKA Witches Walk, I think. Interesting… I don’t think that we were very wanted up there. Not threatened, just not wanted. My car got stuck on the mountain of course. I recently priced some studded snow tires and can’t wait to get the funds to finance them even if I have to stand on a street corner for the money!! I had to drive down the mountain in reverse. Quite !@($#! Scary!!

We hiked up a hill for what seemed like years. Once we made it though photographing was nice. On the way back I was the first to notice a very odd smell that had not been there on the way up. It smelled like a combination of dead animal and a zoo. It was very strong. Rick had me get some food out of my pack that I had brought as a precaution in case of a bear or *another hungry something crossed our path.

At the car. I had to back out of he spot I had some more. I was so scarred of getting stuck again as it had snowed more during our hike and the snow thickened more that I sped up at the foot of the hill and almost ran Rick over. Chalk it up to a woman driver… I felt soo bad but had been trying to do us all a favor by gunning it since stopping was what got me in my whole mess. I hope I can be forgiven because at first Rick looked scarred and then he looked as if to say, “What the !&*#@ woman, exactly were you doing?” Mind you 45 minutes ago on the mountain I accidentally hit him in the head with a snowball trying to wager a friendly little war. I couldn’t do that again if I tried to!
