The Monastery is an example of Spanish Architecture
and is a reminder to the old traditions of theology where life was simple.
I do not have alot of history on this place I just know that its fairly
old and predates 1962. The Monastery is fairly well secluded not many even
know about this place. It was actually shown to me during the day and of
course over the last few months I heard stories about it.
At one time The Monastery was a place of principal, morale, and discipline. Eventually the Monastery moved to a different one and this place was then turned into a Restaurant & Clubhouse for the golf club. In a way that is sort of demeaning to such a place since that would be like taking a holy church and turning it into a pub. Their are rumors of the Monastery being haunted. Years ago employees would see with their own eyes pots and pans fly off the counter, walls and even move on their own. We noticed a presence in the downstairs kitchen ourselves all we wanted to do is confirm these reports. The entire place is gloomy all the way from the secluded courtyard to the long corridors which run throughout the place. Their is a pool, bar downstairs, fitness room, modern restrooms, a pro shop, restaurant upstairs, etc etc. We were able to bring you photos from various parts inside the Monastery but we are fairly sure much as changed. Sure the large chandeliers, old wood vaulted ceilings, fire places, bell tower, etc still exist signs that this Monastery at one time was majestic. But the place is what it is and a very eerie one. For example down one hall their is blood on the wall then you turn the corner and see a giant chefs knife sitting by some ripped jeans. Then you will find one door unlocked while another door to a small room is locked tightly. You will hear things like bangs, talking, and even catch wind of an icy cold spot. You constantly have to turn around cause you feel like something is watching you from the higher floors. Its a real chiller of a place and of course much more remains to be seen here I am sure. © By Rick-AngelOfThyNight Update: I Received an email that back then when it was a golf club and it shut down it needed over 2 million in renovations. The owners used alot of Styrofoam as walls and such. Anotherwards the place was not up to code. She use to live right next to the place and told that her sisters close friends BF and his family owned the lace. Anyhow back in the 60's the place was owned by someone with the name Ishavara. There is a book called Oneness In Living: Kundalini Yoga The Spiritual Path and the International Community. She is not sure how long he owned the property. The property eventually was leased out as a school called The Green Valley School from the 60s' to around the mid 70's. The school was suppose to be modeled like Summer Lane or Buck Brook in upstate NY. The school supposedly was a place for troubled children or parents who did not want to deal with them. It was a private school meaning the parents had money to send these kids away here. The ladies father use to hang with some of the kids that use to attend there. The school was closed down in the mid 70s due to rumors of abuse. The Time Magazine did an article titled "Valley Of Horrors" in 1975. The Reverend, George Von Hilsheimer was primarily named in the abuse charges. He was supposed to be a respect psychiatrist to the children. He had his license in 1998 revoked for practicing medicine outside the realm of psychiatry. This was a sick man I read a link about the rapes of many women that took place in the 60s that he committed and he got away with it. I have looked at the old photos of when it was a school and I must say that at one time this place was gorgeous...with lush trees...houses that no longer even exist that the staff lived in....and even recreational areas for the kids. I looked at some of the student photos and they looked happy. Guys had long hair...shirts off....girls were hippy chicks which is cool in my book lol. When the school closed many students were at a loss they felt they lost a home a family most went up to VA. I read stories about the last student to leave the school. Despite the sexual abuse most students liked it here they found a family amongst eachother something I lacked growing up. Since then the place was abandoned until they used it as a golf course. Below further is a photo of the school bus parked on the offices side of the monastery.
