Everybody loves amusement parks so before I made my move to Florida I decided to investigate this place as a tribute to me leaving WNY. Often when people visit amusement parks they never think about the tragedies that come with them. As some people take one last ride to there own demise and tragedy. Six Flags Darien lake has always been one of my favorite places as after the close of Crystal Beach when I was a child this place had grown on me. Maybe I decided to investigate it because I once had a lady I loved and took her here and we watched the laser light show together. But then a few days later she really broke my heart so my last true memory I left here and to visit here again was pretty difficult for me. But I was able to look past it and  do what I love best  which is to show you some of the ghosts that roam this amusement park in the later hours of night where no man is around but me wandering in the howling night.

Six Flags is known across the country they were started up in 1961 originally from Texas. The term also refers to the six different national flags which have flown over Texas in its history, which is where the amusement park derives its name. There is over 40 theme parks ran by Six Flags 24 of them have the Six Flags name but many exist in other countries. So basically this is why I chose to investigate a theme park that had a history to it. However this place was not always a Six Flags however it all started in 1982.

In 1982 various attractions were added along with the very first Ranger in this country. Also that year the Viper a multip million dollar arrow steel lopper coaster. At this time it was called Darien lake. The reason is because where the park sits today is a series of 6 lakes including a state park nearby with a giant lake used for fishing and swimming. So that is how the name was derived. In 1983 one of the largest Ferris Wheels in the country was added which stands 165 feet tall and was purchased from the World's Fair in Knoxville TN.

In the later 1980s the park expanding adding adventure land for kids which also had a train that went around the lake, adventure land for the kids, Grizzly Run which had white water rapids and many other fun attractions. Then in 1991 the predator was introduced one of the countries largest and tallest wooden roller coasters. I have rode on this myself its very bumpy but the high drop is one of the best.

Then in the early 90s the park was refurbished and a performing arts center was added which holds 20,000 people. Also in addition the Laser Light reality show was put into the mix. In 1994 Barracuda Falls a water park was added which had 4 water slides that were the first of its kind on the East Coast. Then in 1995 the sky coaster was introduced which sends ridings over one of the parks many lakes and is also a very well known water ride today.

In 1995 Premier Parks who owns Six Flags purchased Darien lake from a former own of Funtime Parks INC. Then in 1996 hooks lagoon was added which is very similar to something you would see in the movie Peter Pan. Its a giant area full of pools, nets, and old ship. I was on this once and the giant bucket which pours over once every few minutes poured all over me. But hooks lagoon even has a ghost of its own I learned this real quick from investigating here.

In 1997 The mind Eraser, Nightmare at Phantom Cove, and 1 million gallon wave pool were added to the park. That was a big year for this park as you could see  the transition from Darien Lake to Six Flags taking shape. Then in 1998 a lodge was built on the lake, along with a Cafe Restaurant, and the boomerang coaster were added. This was also the same year that Six Flags hoisted its banner at Darien lake, announced its transformation and Premier Parks bought the Six Flags chain and converted 5 of its parks.

In 1999 was the first Six Flags season at Darien lake with over 30 million people who visited here. The Popeye's Seaport became Looney Tunes Seaport and land. That year the Batman stunt show was added along with the the Superman roller coaster. Which is over 208 feet tall, goes 72 mph and trust me it is one of the best coaster I ever ridden on. This coaster was a modified version similar to one in New England.

Then in 2000 the Huss Top Spin was added, Twister and in 2001 the sling shot which launches people 200feet. In 2002 Shipwreck falls, Intamin Shoot the water ride, Peg Leg Pete's which serves smoked turkey legs was added. A new slingshot was added which was bigger then the first a whopping 300ft. Today there is many rumors that a water coaster may be added like the roller soaker at Hershey Park or that a floorless coaster may be added in place of the Viper. Only time will tell!

Today Six Flags sits as one of the top amusement parks in the WNY area. There is everything to over 100 rides to over 100 attractions such as games, polish sausage to fried dough stands. With roughly 6 Coasters here it has become one of the top coaster parks in America. As time goes on some things are removed such as the train ride but also as time goes on many things are added in the mix. There is even a antique cars track, go karts here, and a pirate ship that is right on one of the lakes. So now that I told you a little history about the park lets talk about the Hauntings here.

There is alot of things here that often people do not notice and why is this? Simple really because in during the opening hours of the park there is so much noise, people that the chance of knowing where the ghost are or seeing something of the paranormal are quite slim. I was lucky enough to have a opportunity to visit here and be the ONLY person in over 100-200 acres of theme park to explore. This may have been one of the biggest test or investigations for me. Since I look back and think about how I spent 4 hours of climbing snow mounds 3-8 feet, fences going to rides and even climbing up on many of the rides. It involved alot of stamina and the entire park was glazed in ice so that was a big obstacle.

Is this park eerie at night by yourself? You bet there is many things or rather ghost at the park no matter where you go. Feeling of being watched, hearing footsteps, doors banging, lights on in some of the restaurants, and even moans or rather voices can be heard throughout the night. Who are these ghost that is the question? Was Six Flags built on Native American burial grounds? Did people in the past die due to carelessness or tragedies related to the park? Or is this such a peaceful and fun place then most ghost prefer to spend the afterlife here? We may not know but what you are about to see will prove the existence of something supernatural occurring here and now I bring it to you.
