Silver Springs & River

We were now on the out skirts of Ocala we seen a car accident on a dark country road near by. We put our gear together and began getting ready for a long night of hiking about 8 miles worth. This was a pretty big area actually we may need to visit here again just to cover more of it since there is an amusement park, the worlds largest springs, the river, many hiking trails, a museum and so much more.

We started our hike down a road which ran along a boyscout camping area and a fence  with woods behind it. Eventually we entered a small gate leading onto a trail and took a restricted access road. It was really weird on this road it actually looked like it went on for miles.

We found this giant trash bin with many dead animals inside the stench was overwhelming. We had woods on both sides but the sky and stars illuminated the road so we did not have to even use our lights. After over a mile of walking I cut to the right and took an unmarked hiking trail.

The trail was very hill and it twisted alot. I went a lot on instinct something which usually prevails when I lead our team in the woods. I was actually keeping an eye out for bigfoot prints since these woods connect to the Ocala Forest, rivers, streams, and lakes.

There was one point on the trail we heard something out in the woods probably an animal and another time some birds flew past us. But it was a real serene trail. After over a half hour to an hour the trail seemed endless. Most of the trail was not marked these little dirt trails were four wheel paths.

Eventually I found an orange marker its fairly possible we were on the sink hole trail which was listed near a map we found of the area at the ranger station where we came out at. We were on a concrete road after taking many paths in the woods and we agreed to take the Fort King Wagon Trail, River Trail or perhaps find the spring head. I seen a meteor burning up in the sky which during the night I spotted about three in total. There was a few unmarked trails and one trailhead with an old wood sign hanging over it.

We walked for a couple miles down this road and their were no signs it just went on and on in the woods. Eventually I seen some dim lights through the trees figured maybe it was the museum or campers. We came around a patch of woods and were in a playground picnic area.

Ariel sat down and we took a little break and kept pushing on up a dirt road in the woods which led us right into the cracker house pioneer village. We were in the woods very deep at this point and it was really dark around here. The pioneer village had many old wood houses.

It was pretty eerie within the village there was an old well, wood rocking chairs, stables with chickens cackling inside the pens, a wood church, and old machinery. There was many tools, barrels and many of the structures served different purposes. There was a sign that said it was a cow camp.

There was a few structures back in the woods we did not go in any of them but we did enjoy walking around each one. I felt as if something residual was here. In the center of the village was a bell it really had that house in the prairie type of look. We had a lot of fun here and eventually visited behind it an Indian village which was disappointing. Their was two grass huts and that was about it.

We sat down and took a break getting prepared for a long hike back to the car. We were pretty far back and we did not find the river or fort king wagon trail so we decided it was time to call it a night before the sun came up. We walked all the way back down the road looking back we seen a camping area probably near the water as we seen a bug zapper glowing in the woods.

We made our way back out to a different entrance and took a few photos at the entrance point. It was almost 6am and we had to hike all the way down this highway back to the car. Our feet were soaked cause of the dew on the grass and eventually we made our way to the car with relief. It was a pretty adventurous woods hike.

Not a lot of activity here but you could feel at some points watched on the road within the forest. I felt most of the ghostly energy in the pioneer village. A lot of moving cold spots and I noticed most of my ectoplasm shots came within that village rather then the woods itself.

I do believe much more remains to be seen on some of the trails and I am sure something unknown roams them woods no doubt. But it was a nice little piece of history we got to hike around in.

The drive home felt a little odd the sun was up and everybody was asleep as I drove home. Good thing for some highly caffeinated coffee lol. It was a long drive home almost 60 miles and when I got home oh man I was just glad to eat breakfast.

It was a wild, intense, and fun night. We worked very hard It seems to be the ghost activity has been a lot higher lately but bigfoot activity is down compared to last years investigations. I do think Kerr City would have went better if we did not have problems with the caretaker.

Being a paranormal investigator for those that want to get into this field is about risk. Sometimes you deal with people who are nice sometimes you deal with others who are not. Sometimes you get good ghost activity other times nothing. Everytime we go out its a different story. We always see or do something knew and you never know what might happen.

This was Ariel's longest hikes so far on an investigation. We work very hard if bigfoot is in the woods he probably is in a secluded part of the woods. If there are ghost there going to be watching you from the windows or hide behind a bush because many of them still act very human more or less.

It was a night with a lot of exploration on foot we did not know really what to expect with any of the places since they all were very secluded. But this is what makes investigating so great is conquering the unknown and being around the friends that matter most.
