    The town of Santa Claus Arizona was erected in 1937 when a real estate owners had plans to use the theme park to attract buyers in the surrounding area which she had sub divided. Many traveling motorist could visit this road side attraction coming to and from Phoenix to Las Vegas. Over the years Santa's land had continued to expand such as the Kit Carson Guest House which was called the Santa Claus Inn resides behind the main office. It only took a few years later and by 1942 thousands of tourist were visiting its attractions and enjoyed Santa Burgers and Reindeer Omelettes or even purchase a portrait of John Wayne which was at one time a very big thing in the state of AZ. Over the years many attractions were added including the Old 1225 pink children's train which is now rusting away. Only after 12 years in operations the original owner sold her interest in the town in 1949 this was due to the fact that the only residents who resided in the town also worked at Santa's Land. She had hoped that others would fall in love with this location and purchase the plots however that would be dashed. Soon others would come to own this road side attraction or play some involvement with its development. For example Robert A. Heinlein a well known sci-fi novelist offered for a small fee postmarked letters from Santa just as Duncan Hines shortly after till about 1961 offered this service through remailing service advertisements. Everybody knows Duncan Hines they have some of the best brownies today in the world trust me I know I have kids we enjoy baked goodies. The problem that led to Santa Lands demise could have been its location or maybe it just didn't get the publicity it deserved therefore eventually when the 1970's rolled around business was declining here yearly. The property in the 1980's was for sale for nearly 95,000 and at that time it was only worth less then half of that. By 1995 all businesses surrounding Santa's Land closed and by 2000 weather and age had taken hold of the remaining attractions. Thus it closed leaving only a few remaining buildings, wishing well and children's train behind rusting away. Today the property is abandoned but collapsing, over grown and heavily vandalized. The roof in one of the buildings is collapsing while almost every wall graffiti can be found. The property is up for sale not sure it is even salvageable sad to say. The love that was put into this place at one time has long been gone leaving only its spiritual past of what once was. I believe that a few of its previous owners may haunt the property who devoted there lives towards Christmas. Not to mention devoting there life's towards making children happy also meant a duty one that may have carried on over even in the afterlife. There is almost an eerie feeling on the property not an evil one but when you see garland just hanging over doorways and torn xmas decor with a weathered picture of Santa on the side of a building there is going to be some level of discomfort. What once was a small town has been reduced to ruins and whether this place eventually gets torn down it will be forever preserved through The Paranormal & Ghost Society. At one time children laughed and played while Mrs. Claus gave hot chocolate to the little ones. At one time Santa laughed as childrens dreams came true so many dreams now all of them reside here in the vacant town of Santa Claus.
