The Salamanca Erie Railroad station was built in 1904 and was the third station to be built in the area. Some of the first buildings in Salamanca that were non Indian were train depots. This station was very important to the growth of the area as it connected Jamestown ,Dunkirk, Buffalo, Rochester Ect. Basically it was meant to connect the Hudson area of NY to Lake Erie.   Man shops were built around the station including 2 round tables and another freight depot which is across the street. In 1832 the Erie railroad was first chartered  and the track was complete by 1851. By  the late 1860s trains were becoming a very major form of traveling in WNY. The only thing that was non Indian in the 1860s was a water tank for the trains which represented the start of things to come. In the later 1800s it was sold for 6million and even went bankrupt changing many similar names. The rail was even changed in the 1882 to a broad gauge line in one day covering 94 miles and over 500 workers  which allowed cars to carry more supplies, passengers Ect.

Now we ask ourselves what does this have to do with ghost and the paranormal well lets see. Once a conductor got off in Salamanca near Witch's walk and never got back on mysteriously he was never seen a again. Then lets not forget the 120 cars that derailed in Gowanda nobody was hurt but it was a very large wreck on a bridge. Many other accidents have occurred on the Erie line some people escaped death such as once a passenger car blew up just right after 17 people got off the train. All the windows exploded and a giant hole in the roof. But what about the deaths that are on record such as Train 12 when a box fro the driving wheel broke threw the engine off the tracks and the postal car caught fire. Women screamed, fainted, panic set in and 5 postal workers were roasted alive other passengers escaped as all the cars were caught on fire as they ran in there pajamas. Another story is about a young boy 18 years old who went into town to get mail and road the train on in well he ended up hitting a snow bank and slipped under the rails getting mutilated. These are just a few of the very many accidents on this railroad line as well but this just shows you that yes deaths have occurred therefore this could explain why many different ghost haunt this station.

Safety and service was the motto of this line however none the less accidents occurred no matter how beautiful the scenery was, the luxury passenger cars looked or how convenient  it was for the Train from Rochester to arrive then for passengers to get on board another train to Buffalo and enjoy a sleeper car. Also the station played a big role in mail service and 2 years after the station was built mills, lumber yards, buildings Ect. With 2 other stations in the area it was easy to transfer from one railroad line to another.

Now onto the station is it haunted? Extremely maybe the most haunted station I ever laid eyes upon as I walked down the stone walk way and looked at the old lamps which line the walk way feeling watched included followed back to the vehicle. The station still stands beautifully bricked on the outside and blue woodwork inside but also suffers vandalism. The station has been abandoned for over 20 years and now looks like a giant haunted house as the windows are missing on the second floor and it sits dark along the tracks with another train platform which have a set of tracks leading to another railroad line. This is a pretty large station there is a mail room, a lobby, bathrooms, a office, ticket area, janitor room, shop in the basement, attic, rooms for perhaps a train worker to sleep or rest in. Today it sits desolate, vandalized and even has signs of people living inside.

The ghost? Well they are very friendly most of them are male entities, a few children and women but movement is heard here, cold spots and these ghost love to follow you around and show up for a picture. Like most haunted places visited this place makes you feel warm, peaceful the entities are very warm considering the time I spent here and the amount of ghostly photos I took the proof is definitely there that many ghost not only haunt its dark halls but also have made it a place they can call home. Every photo I almost took 9 out of every 10 contained something paranormal. Are these the ghost from the disasters of the Erie Railroad? Are these unsettled Indians as the railroads consumed there sacred lands? Or are these the departed who loved trains and this beautiful place so much that they wanted to spend there after life here? You decide and let me share a special journey with you into this treasured find by the the Paranormal & Ghost Society as I take you room by room and introduce you to my new found friends.
