Olcott Tavern & Inn

If this place does not give you the creeps nothing will. This place reminded of something you would see in the days of the wild west. We entered the wine cellar and explored a fairly large basement. Oddly we seen a walk in freezer with many feathers in there, an old boiler, a pile of beer cases, and the basement looked like any typical bar cellar. The twist and turns gave it a more foreboding feeling and then finally a set of wooden stairs I found so we headed up stairs. I really liked the upstairs one area looked like a restaurant then the other area looked like the bar area. Much of everything was stacked such as chairs, beer faucets, cabinets, furniture etc. The first floor was very interesting the floors were all checkered or tiled and there was 2 large rooms then a couple small ones. We decided to visit the kitchen area  where you could clearly see food was cooked back here for the restaurant. Then in another area of the kitchen Jason was mentioning how weak the floor felt and then he took another step and and down he went. Lucky for him only one leg went down the hole but he was sinking quick. Eventually he was able to get out of the hole and I helped him as I shined my light looking into there. I noticed the hole in the kitchen floor he made had a secret room which we did not seen in the basement. We also noticed if he fell through he would have landed in some pretty dirty water. We thought it was an odd way to find the secret room below but the look on his face was priceless hell then there is Visa & Mastercard HA!. Eventually we worked our way up to the steep stairwell leading to the second floor. This would be the bed and breakfast area or perhaps the inn area for a weary traveler perhaps? I could not help notice that the stairs felt much cooler then any other area of the building. When we looked out the second floor window I could not help hearing a Woooo sound getting closer outside. This worried me a little since it sounded like a real nut case walking towards the tavern. So Jason kept watch while Mark and I had a look around. The upstairs looked more like a club house as someone stapled curtains to make walls, had chairs set up, a table etc, this room was mall but it made me uncomfortable. In another room there was a couch and a dresser set up, then another room that was filled with so much junk and debris we could not enter. It seemed like there was 2-3 rooms upstairs and with the vandalism done to it you could practically walk to each room through a wall. Mark and I did climb up onto the roof through a window. That was fun since we were able to get some fresh air. We then worked our way back to look at a stairwell leading down that was impassable. We then headed back downstairs and did one last sweep of the area. Rather then this being haunted I believe their may be some energy here you could just feel it when walking around. We then walked back into the basement to locate that secret room Jason almost fell in. We found a small opening and were able to see inside there. It had water at least 5 feet deep, and some dead animals it felt almost like something else was in this room or the walls that is the feeling I had received. We then left and headed outside to take a few more outdoor photos then headed back to the van.

We finished off the night visiting 6 places and investigating 3 of them hence the mishaps we were able to get some work done tonight. There wasn't as much ghost activity as usually it could be the bright moon out, could be the number of cars on the road alot of traffic tonight and even a party taking places across from the tavern. One thing you learn to do is laugh and turn that something bad that happens into something good. Also keep in mind the work we put into our investigations tonight is just an example. Alot of the things we do our don't try this at home type of stuff so keep in mind we are trained and experience adventurers. As always for example when going into any place you must be cautious sometimes if the creatures of the dark do not get you a weak floor, or low ceiling, or the nut case wooing will. In close I would like to say it turned out to be a pretty good night I looked at my digital photos I had one picture where there is a little blonde haired girl looking at me and something evil looking peering at me in front of a drape. If Mark was able to capture the walking apparition on film from our previous destination I will let everybody know. Goodnight
