    The Nickel Ravine Plant sits near the Virgin River and entrance into the Gold Butte area. For many years this plant processed the Nickel mined nearby. At night when your light hits the nickel the entire ground lights up like Christmas lights. I have no information as to when it was built or even if any deaths occurred here. I do know that the plant has been abandoned many years and if I had planned the trip a couple days earlier I would have gotten to see it in its full form. Unfortunately a couple days prior to the investigation a demolition crew was wrecking the plant and removing the debris.At one time the pipes stood tall within the ravine and their were a few concrete buildings which all have been demolished and thrown into giant dumpsters. What I do not understand is why the plant was torn down it really posed no danger and if anything the mines in the area are much more dangerous then a few structures. In order to get to the plant you have to hike down into the ravine its very dark down in here and secluded. Its a really great UFO viewing area and quiet. What you will see from this investigation is what is left of the plant. You will see below giant pipes we crawled in and some foundations including pipes extending out from the ground. The entire pipe system which stood vertical now stands on its side pipes all disconnected from where rivets once held them together. Its ashamed that the place was torn down but we were at least lucky enough to get a few photos of the pipes and industrial machinery that was used to process the Nickel Ore. Our site in some way shape or form serves as a memorial for abandoned places that become forgotten and more then often removed from existence.
