Well as you know we had a major investigation planned for this weekend it
was really nice to visit some really well known haunted places and get
back into the groove of things. We also had a new investigator to help us
out her name was Linda who is a good friend of Ariel's and I:) it was a
nice weekend we had a few mishaps during the investigation but for the
most part it was an exciting night full of activity.
We investigated four out of the six proposed places being the Kingsley
Plantation, Wiccademous Grave, Old Nassau County Jail, and Finally the
Annie Lytle School #4 as we headed up into the Jacksonville Area and
Amelia Island. I really enjoyed exploring out this way and hope to
continue regular trips to investigate around this historical area which is
home to the Timucuan Indians, Pirate Stories, and Even the Civil War. Its
the first time we been investigating in this area some areas seem really
fascinating while others seemed run down and full of problems ill explain
that later.
We set off for our trip early stopped for dinner then we headed on off to
our first destination which was the well known one of the most haunted
plantations in the state called the Kingsley Plantation. I did not get as
many photos as I wanted but we sure did have an awesome time and so our
journey begins here.
Kingsley
Plantation
We were driving along the shore on fort George Island and we could already
feel the eeriness as we turned off down this long road. When I say long
just imagine a few miles of woods on both sides of this real curvy road
with no lights whatsoever leading to these giant iron gates. On our way up
there we passed some tabby ruins part of the plantation which were being
restored. The road was exactly the same as in the 1800's a twisting dirt,
bumpy, scenic historic road leading us to this site.
When we arrived at the plantation we focused right away on the slave
quarters and cabins. On each side of the road were many cabins side by
side going on for quite a ways. Most of the tabby cabins were in ruins but
some of the fireplaces were still intact.
The main quarters were completely intact with a roof even which was very
cold and eerie inside. I did not sense a whole bunch of activity but I
could sense a feeling of being watched as we made our way around the
cabins. Some of the cabins still had some residual energy I could feel it.
Most of the cabins were very small with about only two rooms and a
fireplace maybe even three little rooms at most. You could sort of get a
feeling of what life was like back then for the slaves which resided at
the plantation. Around us was a lot of woods and I was keeping an eye out
for old red eyes which I did not see however there was ALOT of movement
around us which sounded like human walking.
We had fun exploring the cabins but every time I entered a room it seemed
either cold or like something was standing in one of the rooms staring
constantly at us. I also noticed when Ariel and I wandered off something
was moving tree to tree. It was pretty big and was leaping. I did not see
it but the noise of it was amazing. Maybe old red eyes is some cryptid and
not a ghost. But it went palm to palm shaking the trees with great
strength.
I did not panic just kept walking and tried to ignore it for awhile that
way I would not scare it away. We then walked up a road which led us to a
giant barn with chairs like it was used as a school or prayer area. This
place was very eerie not a lot of activity one moving cold spot but it was
an place of energy. The slaves obviously worked in this barn a lot and
plantation school/prayer area at one time.
We then made our way on over to the plantation house there was a presence
observing us from the upstairs window I could at least sense that much but
for the most part it was quite and I photographed the entire mansion. We
all sort of went our own ways did not see to much but we looked around and
eventually walked on over to another smaller home which was the visitors
center.
As we strayed away from the plantation house an odd light came on near the
side of the home. The light was low to the ground and it was not on when
we were near the plantation mansion so we thought that was odd. One of our
last stops after this was the plantation owners vegetable garden where we
seen onions, cabbage and other things growing.
Jason and I found behind the garden in the woods a cottage of some kind
which we explored. The cottage was very small and eerie with a set of
stairs leading into the attic. The floor was rotted and windows were
broken. There was a giant fire place in each room and the kitchen had
newspapers dating back to the 1970's still in good shape.
I was pretty amazed with the area wondering what other hidden jewels lied
within these woods. The cottage did have a dormant presence but it was not
interested in us or was perhaps serene at the time. We did eventually get
out of there and hiked back down the road out to the car.
There was a street lamp off in the woods which turned on when we arrived
and turned off when we got back to the car I thought this was really odd.
Normally they turn on when the sun goes down or when people go near them.
But this one turned on when we got out of the car and turned off when
getting into it.
The one thing about this plantation is that its one of the most haunted in
the south but honestly its a well taken care of peaceful place. I felt
ghost, I heard things, even seen some odd things but for the most part its
a place worth perhaps spending longer time at and dwelling deeper into its
Haunting's. After our break we then headed on off to the Wiccademous
Grave.
