One of the oldest churches in Deland this also is one of the most haunted in my opinion. I do not have alot of information on the church but I can tell you this it was built in the 1800s its Spanish architecture stands out more then anything and of course this is probably what drew me in.

In 1880 the congregation organized and held services in the Rich cabin until eventually they built a small sanctuary where the church stands today. The land and sanctuary were donated by J.W. Howry and it cost $2,500 and it was dedicated and complete by 1883. Rev. J.T. Lewton was the first pastor here and succeeded in 1886 by Rev. M.S. Leete the first minister in Deland. A parsonage was located behind it eventually leading to an entire new Sanctuary which was dedicated in 1920 incorporating the old church into the new structure.

Many different ghost haunt this church just as any church I have investigated. The ghost are very cooperative and friendly here. There is many interesting things about the church such as a door that is sealed up or covered up rather, a basement leading under the church which very few places in Florida have basements, and its 2 bell towers which also seem to possess a supernatural presence.

This was one of the first church investigations I did since I moved here to Florida and as you can see it turned out to be a good one. What makes a church so haunted though this is the question? Is it because its peaceful and quiet? Or the fact of all the funerals that take place over the years? One thing that you must realize is that even though time changes the church and its guest do not they are always there.

This church however is gorgeous and at night pretty eerie just to walk around its corridors.  The church has everything from a prayer room to a school so its quite large.
