Deland Memorial Gardens looks to be under 100 years old. I believe it was formed for the Veterans of WWI, WWII, Vietnam and the Korean War. Every stone here has a flag the whole cemetery is actually quiet patriotic as plaques, flag poles, memorials are well abundant. Being our first investigation was on Memorial Day it was quite interesting to walk around here.

There is very large oak trees which is quite unusual for DeLand to have as well as rolling hills. I could not find alot of history on this place was sort of disappointed considering its size. But there is many key points here such as an area with many mausoleums, vaults, crypts, a stone garden and even the Garden Of Memories just to name a few. It is rather a place of serenity as the palm trees sway and you walk amongst the flags.

I learned alot from our first investigation and there will be more here next year. But just like any cemetery this one has supernatural activity as well. Perhaps what makes this place so eerie is that you look ahead of you and see 100s of flat stones and flags. Then you walk in some woods where its so dark all you hear are frogs and feel watched. But even more so taking a walking in the garden of memories seems less peaceful as you turn a corner and right there ahead is a statue that almost looks alive. The feelings of emotions are very overwhelming. Even though its peaceful somehow there are feelings of not being welcomed here. I could not help hearing a girls scream in the cemetery, a loud crash which remains a mystery to me but it was a few feet from me yet nothing was seen, and being chased  as I rode my bicycle through its hilly road. Every corner feels as if something is lurking there waiting in the dark.

I find veteran cemeteries often to be unsettled because some did not ask to die the way they did, others left children behind, spouses, and some had early ends to there life. It is very sad when you think about how senseless war can be when you see so many endless stones. Some did perish naturally of course but none the less this cemetery has a lot of mixed feelings plus it was the first cemetery I ever road my bicycle through. It was very odd riding on the grass, down walk ways, into the mausoleums but at the same time it allowed me to cover many areas that would take much longer on foot.

Overtime we will add history on this cemetery and develop more in depth investigations. As we feel this is a important cemetery to be given attention to so state tuned because this place has many mysteries to come.
